Wayne County CEO wrapped up their "kick off" week with their first Business Visit to Blessed Blooms Flower Farm. Owner/Operator Alyssa Short met students at the farm and explained how a desire to cut costs for her own wedding turned into a full scale business operation. Alyssa explained how she as a small business owner has had to sacrifice time and sweet equity to see the business get off the ground, often times having to forego even paying herself to invest all the #blessedbloomsflowerfarmandmarket profits back into the business. Over time the operation has grown and they are always on the lookout for ways to expand and diversify. Students got the chance to pick flowers and assemble their own arrangements. Alyssa also pointed out various aspects of the science of "flower growing" and how that affects the bottom line of the business. Co-Worker Ashely Musgrave also joined the group. CEO Student Jaxon Basnett got the prize for the flower arranging! Thank you Alyssa and Ashely for taking time to meet with students on your farm!
