On Thursday, September 18th, the Wayne County CEO Program had the opportunity to visit two business in one location.
Illinois Drone Solutions is a drone service based in Cisne, Illinois offering agricultural spraying, cover crop seeding, solar farm thermal inspections, pipeline patrol, construction mapping, and residential roof inspections and more across Southern Illinois. Owner, Landon Osterich spoke with students about the process of launching their small business as well as the opportunities and obstacles they face in this new and evolving industry combined with the challenges of working in the ag sector.
When asked how he got involved in this industry, Landon explained that he has a love of the outdoors. He is also an entrepreneur at heart. He grew up in a similar industry, utilizing helicopters for crop spraying. He learned over time that drones are much safer. This work allows him to combine his passions for both entrepreneurship and the outdoors through this venture.
Landon is also the owner and operator of Lone Oak Digital offering indoor digital billboard advertising. This niche market focuses on installing indoor build boards in high traffic establishments in communities throughout southern Illinois. This is also immerging market combining sales and graphic design. Landon explained that once the monitors are installed he can manage the advertising remotely.
Landon and his two partners are hustlers! We wish them much success as they continue to grow their businesses and pursue additional opportunities for expansion.
