On Thursday, September 25, Wayne County CEO students attended a workshop hosted by the Illinois SBDC at IECC at the Terry L. Bruce West Richland Center in Noble, Illinois. CEO programs from Crawford County, Clay County, and Wabash/Edwards County also joined the event.

Students received a crash course in business planning and writing before being divided into small groups with peers from other programs. Together, they developed a business plan and pitched for capital investment in a “mock” start-up. Many students shared that they enjoyed the chance to collaborate with neighboring programs while putting their entrepreneurial skills into practice.

Two Wayne County CEO students were part of groups recognized for top presentation pitches. Evan Keen was with the winning Daisy Lane Events group, while Caleb Young’s group, Midnight Brews, earned runner-up honors.

A big thank-you goes to Michelle Brooks, Brianna Simpson, and KaRissa Miller for organizing such a valuable and engaging workshop. And of course, we’re also grateful for the Monical’s Pizza lunch—it’s always a hit!
