Wayne County CEO Visits DIChey Workshop!

Wayne County CEO students had the opportunity to spend time with Cheyanne DeJarnatt at her DIChey Workshop last week! Cheyanne shared her educational background, work experience, and the journey that ultimately led her to open her own business.

Students enjoyed a behind-the-scenes look around the workshop as Cheyanne showed them some of her favorite projects and explained the different types of wood she works with, the stains and finishes she uses, and the machinery and tools needed to create her products.

One of the most valuable lessons Cheyanne shared was the importance of creating a business that works for you, rather than allowing the business to take over your life. Cheyanne ultimately chose to operate DIChey part-time so she can continue to enjoy the work she loves while maintaining balance.

Cheyanne also shared her love for repetition in her projects and how she has turned that into a successful business strategy. She has developed partnerships with local real estate and mobile home sales agents who place standing orders for her famous door hangers.

She also keeps an eye out for opportunities to repurpose leftover or "scrap" wood from other projects. Her creativity and resourcefulness were on full display as she talked about finding new uses for materials that might otherwise go to waste — including the wood used to create her popular cornhole boards!

A BIG thank you to Cheyanne for sharing her time, experience, and entrepreneurial journey with our students. She even made name signs for each of the students as a keepsake! We also want to thank her for her recent generous donation of the FCHS 100th Anniversary Cornhole Boards to the Wayne County CEO program for our students to sell. We are grateful for community members like Cheyanne who continue to invest in our students and support their entrepreneurial journey! ❤️
