A Unique Farm Experience!

On Wednesday, October 7th, Wayne County CEO students joined the Clay County CEO group for a fun and educational visit to Streif’s Country Market in Flora, Illinois!

From pumpkins, mums, and a corn maze to something a little more unexpected—ostrich breeding! 🦤 Students got a behind-the-scenes look at this unique business and heard directly from the owners about the challenges and rewards of running their operation.

The owners shared how weather and the COVID-19 pandemic impacted their business, what they enjoy most about market life (especially welcoming children and school groups!), and how they got started raising ostriches. Students also learned about the unique challenges that come with this unusual side of their business.

A big thank-you to Clay County CEO for inviting us to join them for such a unique and memorable visit!
